Fattenin' Them Up

We have a birdfeeder. I bought it several years ago, but only recently finished painting it, etc. Sunday night, after church, we bought a bag of bird seed, but I'm too short to hang it in the tree and we don't have a ladder, so I said Daddy will have to do it.

Yesterday after he got home from work, Lovely and Snugglebug asked Hubby to hang the birdfeeder. Then, Lovely asked him which birds would come to eat the food. Hubby said lots of different kinds, and he started naming the different kinds.

"And they will get fat, right?" Lovely asked, excitedly.

"Sure," Hubby replied innocently.

"And then we can shoot 'em!" Lovely exclaimed.

Lovely has apparently learned the idea behind baiting animals. Unfortunately for her, it is illegal in the state of Indiana, and in our eyes, unethical. So, feed, little birdies, feed, without the fear of a five year old's maniacal plans!

Funny Video: You Might Be a Homeschooler If...

After I saw the Animal School video, I found this one. You may want to mute the sound, but I thought the video itself was hilarious!

Friday Funnies --On Saturday, Or Is It Sunday?

I thought I would begin racapping some of the humor that is found in everyday life, and who better to laugh at than myself? ;-)

Saturday: My youngest dd asked such a great question in the car this evening. After becoming fascinated with bugs this week, even though all bugs are her 'friends', she asked, "Mom, do ladybugs have big butts?" I looked in my rearview mirror to see her closely examining the rearend of the gynormous plastic ladybug I had just purchased for a $1 at Target, and I couldn't help but begin laughing!

Last Saturday: As my hubby & I were headed home from the Midwest Homeschool Convention, we attempted once more to use the GPS I purchased last December. It took a while for it to find a signal due to the tall buildings in the city, but it finally latched on to something and started giving us directions. We followed obediently (unlike our children, who so frequently forget), but something just seemed off. It led us to a road down by the river and told us to drive eight miles, and then turn left. Ok, we can do that. Then, as traffic became thinner and a clear view of the river came into sight, it said, "Approaching _____ Road. Turn left. Board ferry." Board ferry?!! We turned, only to find no ferry in view, never mind the fact that we didn't plan on ever boarding a ferry on our drive home. Well, at the time it wasn't so funny because we had just wasted 20-30 minutes, but I rolled laughing the entire way home, once we turned around and found our way home! Who knew you actually have to manually check the box for ferries under the navigation menu in order to avoid taking them?

Musings from the Five Year Old

I know I've posted a lot lately, but I have to get these things in print when I remember, or I'll forget and a precious memory will be lost forever! Besides...they're funny!

First, a few weeks ago, DD (now named Lovely for blogging purposes) was eating her burrito but she left the end of her second one on her plate as she began making the next one. My youngest DD asks if she can have it, so I said yes, and as she's picking it up, Lovely says, "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"Why?" I ask, thinking she is just being selfish.
She casually answers, "Because part of it was up my nose."

The latest food for thought came from Lovely tonight at dinner. As she was eating her 6th piece of asparagus (she's an asparagus fiend), she told me she doesn't eat it all the way to the bottom.
"Why not?" I ask, not wanting her to waste perfectly good veggies.
"Because sometimes I clean between my piggy toes with my fingers." My eyes slowly wandered down to the piece of asparagus grasped by her fingers and I inform her she needs to remember to wash her hands in the future!
